The Greater Louisville Hamfest Association, Inc. (GLHA) evolved from a group of dedicated Amateur Radio enthusiasts from the Louisville area wishing to start a Hamfest in the area. In 1960 the first Louisville Hamfest was established from a radio club formed for the purpose of starting the Hamfest, The Kentuckiana Radio Club. On March 24, 1982 the Greater Louisville Hamfest Association, Inc. was formed as a separate corporation.
The objective and purpose of the GLHA is to promote the Greater Louisville Hamfest (GLH) as a means to perpetuate the Amateur Radio Service. GLHA is a non-profit organization consisting of volunteer help. There are no paid personnel and GLHA is not affiliated with any amateur radio club or association. All proceeds of each Hamfest go toward the funding of the following year's event.
Every year we strive to provide the best Hamfest in a quality facility for the least cost to participants. Your attendance helps achieve this goal. As always, we welcome your constructive comments.
Anyone interested in promoting, organizing or assisting with functions of the GLH may join. Full membership is given to applicants possessing a valid amateur radio license issued by the F.C.C.
GLHA meetings are held at the American Red Cross building on Chestnut Street in downtown Louisville at 7PM on the second Tuesday of each planning month. Planning months are February through August and an additional month following the hamfest.
