Circa 1970's. This is part of a set of five fantasy placemats. From a 1905 Coca-Cola ad, this is Lillian Nordica. She was was born in Farmington, Maine and had her image prominently featured in early Coca-Cola advertising campaigns. She was the most glamorous American opera singer in history and the first to attain true international prominence. On November 28, 1904, Nordica sang in a revival of La Gioconda with Enrico Caruso at the Metropolitan in New York. On the eve of World War I, in 1914, Nordica's tragic and untimely death came as the result of a shipwreck in the South Seas.
